A common complaint from older residents in residential care homes is “Nothing much happens. I’m sick of watching TV.” Well - supposing you said “Let’s go on a journey under the sea!” or even “Shall we go on a trip to the Northern Lights?” You’re probably thinking “Don’t be daft!! Most of my residents have mobility issues…the risk assessments don’t bear thinking about it”. Let me tell you, you can offer experiences like this. How? Through Virtual Reality of course. In 2018, we realised that Virtual Reality is something that should not pass by those of a certain generation or with people with disabilities. With this in mind, we tried out different VR experiences with our 90-year-old grandmother. She absolutely loved trying out Virtual Reality and from that moment forward we have gone from strength to strength delivering VR far and wide, even the local BBC news came out to see what all the fuss was about!
